Taxpayers spared more liability costs!
Trial lawyers’ pet bill dead

Thanks to the hard work of the LRC and its allies, the wrongful death bill is, in a word, dead.

After several passes back and forth, the House and Senate refused to concur with the other chamber’s position and therefore the bill did not pass.

One caveat, however … because the Legislature was unable to complete its work by the March 11 deadline, a special session will convene early next week. It’s possible SB 6508 could be included in the mix of legislation considered, but the LRC will continue to be vigilant in its opposition.

Thanks to all LRC members and supporters who made calls, sent e-mails, talked directly to legislators, and sent letters to the editor. Your hard work paid off.
